like a black canvas
spread upon the floor,
lacking shape and direction.
spreading thinner
thinner and thinner.
it fills the cracks.
leaking into the foundation

farther and farther
from the cup
from which it came.
the ceramic shards
lay sprawled out
the random patern
of the broken cup,
the broken heart
